Deborah Penn
Director of A.C.T. Youth Choir
Deborah Penn holds degrees in music education from Ithaca College and Queens College. She is currently the Preschool and Lower School Music Teacher at Ridgefield Academy, in Ridgefield, CT, where she teaches general music, choral singing, recorder, and an Orff program. From 1998-2007, Mrs. Penn taught in the Commack school district in Commack, NY, where she directed the 11th-12th grade Symphonic Band, 9th-12th grade Women’s Chorale, directed the pit orchestra for the high school musical productions and was the assistant marching band director. She also taught 3rd-5th grade classroom music and directed a 4th Grade Chorus.
Mrs. Penn has directed summer enrichment programs for elementary students in musical theater and drama. Prior to moving to Connecticut, Mrs. Penn lived in Randolph, NJ, where she taught music classes and music enrichment at a local Cooperative Preschool. Mrs. Penn is an accomplished clarinetist and pianist. She has served as a professional accompanist for choral groups, vocalists, and solo instrumentalists throughout the Tri-State area.
Mrs. Penn currently resides in Ridgefield with her husband and four boys.
